But as a part of the fun, all the wedding guests also dab turmeric on each other and pose together for photos. So it is best not to wear any costly dress on that day. It is customary to wear mainly yellow attires, which will not show too much of the turmeric stains. The men may wear off-white or beige coloured kurta pajama, along with a chrome yellow jacket. The women may choose to wear yellow sarees or Anarkali suits to grace the occasion in style.

So the invited ladies need to dress up with gorgeous Anarkali suits, colourful gowns, ethnic skirts and tops with floral prints, to attract the attention of others. But the women should not wear any full-sleeve dress, to keep the arms free for extensive mehendi designs. But the men can dress in stunning kurta pajama of benarasi silk fabric. They may also wear attractive brocade jacket of vibrant colours over a simple-looking kurta pajama set.
  • Sangeet evening – It is a tradition to enjoy one evening with music and dances by both the families of bride and groom together, which is termed as Sangeet. Since everyone young men and women are expected to dance on this occasion, they should wear comfortable dresses for dancing freely. The men may choose to wear dark coloured suits with tuxedos or jackets, where black and mid-night blue are most popular. Some men may try to look outstanding by wearing Jodhpuri suits or any trendy Indo-western designer suit. The women like to wear most enchanting sarees or salwar kameez fitted with mirrors, embroideries of shining metallic zari threads and glossy sequins, which can be complemented with glittering jewellery and extensive makeup.

  • Main wedding ceremony – The wedding day is the most vital time of this social function when everyone wants to sport the best look with the most expensive attires, though their dresses need to be somewhat simpler than the wedding dresses of bride and groom. Generally, the men prefer to wear elegant Bandhgala Indian suits or glistening silk kurta pajamas. The fashionable women like to wear costly silk sarees or salwar kameez with elaborate zardozi works. The younger girls may like to wear silk or brocade lehenga cholis and Anarkali suits of vibrant colours.
  • Wedding reception – The wedding reception is the time when the guests like to dress elegantly in both Indian and even western outfits. Lots of people like to dress in black, as this colour looks gorgeous in all fabrics. The men like to wear formal wears, like lapel suits. The women prefer to wear graceful dresses, like silk gowns or Anarkali suits whose lengths extend till the floor. The jewelleries of diamonds or precious stones are the best choices to wear with these lovely attires.
